The nozzle blows water through the venturi which creates a pressure differential. Note that it may be less in higher altitudes. One pipe pulls the water up suction while the other pipe pushes some water down drive to circulate water through the nozzle and venturi. In the case of ours, no difference.

Water is a universal solvent. Most materials, especially metals, are partially soluble in water. If that water is heated or softened it becomes much more aggressive at leaching metals from water lines.

Connect any filters and then water softeners in that order if you are planning to use them. If that includes the water softener, its probably not too out of line. Dec 04,  · If your Sears softener was hooked up backwards there is a good chance that resin ran out of the softener into your plumbing. Some softeners have a “top basket” that can protect the plumbing in the event this mistake is made but I don’t believe the Sears type softeners do.

Below are the detailed operational instructions and information. To set the filter up, simply attach the pre-filter to either end of the softener. Attach the 4-foot hook up hose from your water source to the pre-filter. Attach your own hose to the other end of the softener. To re-charge the filter, simply back flush opposite direction of regular flow with water softener salt.

By doing so the substances that cause spotting release themselves from the resin beads and flush away. To accomplish this, simply remove the carbon cartridge from the pre-filter and replace with pure pelletized water softener salt pellets. Attach the pre-filter in an upright position on the opposite end of the softener. Hook the 4-foot hose from your water source to the pre-filter.

Simply flush until the salt cubes dissolve and rinse away, approximately 7 minutes for the standard size , allowing the water to flow out the open end of the filter. After the salt is dissolved, rinse an additional minute before the carbon cartridge is replaced. Periodic replacement of the carbon cartridge is recommended.

Is your sprinkler system making odd noises? That sound may be water hammer, but then again, there are other things that create noise in water pipes. Air in the pipes can cause them to make sounds which are easily confused with water hammer. In a few cases I have dealt with, the thumping turned out to be loose pipes striking each other.

What I will attempt to do in this tutorial is take you through a few steps to determine the source of the sound and then suggest some remedies. I will start with the easy fixes that are, unfortunately, less likely to work and then move on to tougher ones which are more likely to work.

What is reverse osmosis? Reverse osmosis RO is a separation process that uses pressure to force a solution through a membrane that retains the solute on one side and allows the pure solvent to pass to the other side. More formally, it is the process of forcing a solvent from a region of high solute concentration through a membrane to a region of low solute concentration by applying a pressure in excess of the osmotic pressure.

This is the reverse of the normal osmosis process, which is the natural movement of solvent from an area of low solute concentration, through a membrane, to an area of high solute concentration when no external pressure is applied. The membrane here is semipermeable, meaning it allows the passage of solvent but not of solute. The membranes used for reverse osmosis have a dense barrier layer in the polymer matrix where most separation occurs.

It is the intent of the policy that salts and nutrients from all sources be managed in a manner that ensures attainment of water quality objectives and protection of beneficial uses. The policy recognizes that local water and wastewater agencies, together with local salt and nutrient contributing stakeholders, including, but not limited to, the water treatment industry, will engage in a collaborative process that is open to all stakeholders to prepare salt management plans.
